Cannabis for pain

No element of pain seems appealing. Many people suffer from chronic pain arising from one health condition or another. Particular health conditions are technically incurable, and no, we are not talking about aids here. For instance, rheumatoid arthritis is probably the most damaging form of arthritis in the medical dictionary. Patients with this health condition are known to pass through untold pain in no particular periodic pattern or trigger. The pain can be so excruciating that it may even cause sedation for the duration of the episode. It occurs sparingly in some but much more in others, depending on the state of their immune system. The condition, among many, serves to illustrate what is responsible for chronic pain in the bodies of various patients worldwide.

What is the medical sector’s answer to these conditions? For patients downing concentrated doses of orthodox pain killers, it is restrictive. We are not talking about your regular pain killers, but instead, the kind that may put a patient in a perpetual state of amnesia to numb their pain. These drugs are dangerous. However, science is constantly evolving to find dynamic and safer means to treat these conditions. There are several alternatives to consider, but none are as effective as psychoactive/psychedelic substances, in general. These substances, synthetic or natural, can inspire a heightened sense of being or awareness, otherwise known as a “high,” and relieve certain health conditions, such as stress, anxiety, depression, and, ultimately, pain.

The most famous from this substance category is cannabis, otherwise known as marijuana. Marijuana is the most recognized and popular of the group. It bears a striking efficacy to other psychedelic substances, such as psilocybin-containing magic mushrooms, LSD, DMT, and more. Marijuana produces a trippy feeling in users, but that’s not what it is all about. Several studies have shown that specific marijuana strains have therapeutic effects on patients with chronic pain. Therefore, marijuana serves as a more liable solution available to medical marijuana patients looking for a more efficient way to relieve their stress and pain.

Medical Research on Marijuana Strains

Marijuana has not gone mainstream in most countries because its possession and usage have been deemed illegal. Why? The reason is that their sort of magical effects are transient, and they influence human behavior. The abuse of marijuana has also contributed massively to regulations. In particular, the United States imposed heavy sanctions on any activity involving the possession, sales, and use of marijuana, along with other psychedelic substances. Regardless, this has not deterred people from growing and using it outside the scope of the law.

Several research institutes started intensive studies on how marijuana can treat certain health conditions. These studies revealed information about marijuana strains, which are Indica, Sativa, and hybrid. Results of the studies show each of these strains shares a commonality; all of them contain a certain proportion of CBC (cannabichromene), THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), and CBD (Cannabidiol), which are significant cannabinoids contained in every cannabis plant.

Effects of Medical Marijuana

THC is responsible for the high that marijuana users experience when they use hemp. CBC doesn’t induce any psychoactive effects due to not bonding well with the cannabinoid receptors in the human brain. However, it impacts receptors known to generate stimuli to pain. These receptors are known as the transient receptor ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) and the vanilloid receptor 1 (TRPV). CBC stimulates the receptors to increase the production of some of the human body’s natural endocannabinoids.

All strains of marijuana are capable of relieving pain. Maintaining a healthy balance of chemical components found in marijuana strains enables them to treat chronic pain efficiently. It is recommendable to use low doses of marijuana strains to build a tolerance to the high. It will give you enough room for your body to adapt to the effect of the strain and its THC content.
